I got this 2 days back and now this is the only remote I got for my Onkyo Audio receiver, Samsung LCD TV, DirecTV and PS3. I recently lost my Onkyo audio receiver universal remote which I was using with my Sumsung TV and Directv which forced me to buy a new one. YES PS3.Most of the function worked out of the box by entering the device codes but there were few of them for which I had to use learn feature(which is also easy to use). I was almost about to buy Logitech harmony when I came across this on amazon. For $20 and good reviews I pulled the trigger. Now as for PS3 I got "PlayStation 3 Blu Wave Remote by Nyko - $15" and had to program all the actions using learn option. I would say it doesn't work perfectly but it is good enough for me to not keep an extra remote/control around.So I will highly recommend this for anyone looking for a replacement remote or good universal remote under $20.
Pros - it worksCons - Difficult to program. Outdated keys missing common keys like:Cancel, Return, Info, Recent, Jump, Open, Close, Eject, PIP, View mode, Zoom, and many many more.
Try using super glue gel to mark the buttons you use most with lines on the sides for guidance in the dark. Works good and sends strong signals so TV and devices can't miss it. Kinda not comfortable with sharp corners and edges. Be sure to direct a fan while it dries for a few hours as the fumes seem to mess us the electronics in past experiences. Use WD40 with Qtips on the battery tips to keep the contacts good.
Product performs exactly as advertised and meets all my expectations. Allowed me to roll the functions of five separate remotes into just this one remote. Would recommend it to anyone dealing with multiple remotes. Easy configuration and use.
Just have to remember to hide it from the dog when we go out now. I also get all the functionality of the original remotes too; it was a nightmare to navigate DVD menus with the previous universals we tried, but with this unit all is well.
We don't have much luck with remotes; 1 stopped working, 2 eaten by dog. We tried a couple of different universal remotes with mixed results - they worked inconsistently or with limited functionality.
This remote is bargain of the century. Then it worked straight away with our Sony DVD player (no great surprise,) and within 5 mins I had it working with our Samsung TV and a Philips DVD player as well.
Tried this Sony as the price was excellent and the reviews were good. First thing I noticed was how well made the unit is.
Very happy. Hmmm, maybe I should order a bunch of these.
